On July 9, 2021, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) officially issued the《Technical Regulations on the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical Equipment》 (SASO RoHS), which controls the hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment. It is required that six categories of electronic and electrical products must pass the conformity assessment before entering the Saudi market. The regulation was originally planned to be enforced from January 5, 2022, and then extended to July 4, 2022, and implemented gradually by product category.
At the same time, in order to support the implementation of SASO RoHS, the government recently issued guidance documents on conformity assessment procedures to provide clear market entry guidelines for relevant manufacturers.

What needs to be prepared for products entering Saudi Arabia:
When the product is put into the Saudi market, firstly it needs to obtain the product conformity certificate (PC certificate) issued by the certification authority approved by SASO, and the batch Certificate (SC certificate) is also required for customs clearance. SASO RoHS report is the precondition for applying for PC certificate, and shall also meet other technical regulations applicable to relevant products.
